Are there any good video editors out there free?

I downloaded some home vids from my dx & finally got player to work, it was QuickTime. It was kind of yellow & low grade at first but was able to see the vid.
Is there anything I can use that doesn't charge for the editing feature?? Motorola doesn't have anything, & I'm hardpressed to find something compatable w/ the G3 videos. I want to combine several clips together I had over the labor day wknd.
