Apps on sd card wont update on froyo

It has happened on several froyo roms so I don't know what the deal is. If I have a app on the sd card and the market sees an update it will fail the install. Does this happen to everyone else? And this is with apps that support froyo with the install to sd card option.

After you've moved an app to the SD, reset permissions.

Where do I reset permissions at? In the app all I see are buttons for clear data, clear cache, and clear defaults but they are all grayed out.
