there is a setting that will allow only the alarm to make noise when the phone is turned to silent

no need to download or pay for an app

The problem was that they need one that will still let the phone ring while it is on silent, as well as have the alarm go off, but no notifications from e-mail. I think between timeriffic and the power management widget everyone has what they need by now though.

I do not ringtone for email it just blinks green LED and makes a short vibrate.

I use Quick Profiles and have a "sleep" profile set up . notifications OFF ringtones 50% volume and Alarm 100% volume
