app / program / plug-in to send txt's on computer

Is there by chance any sort of app that also doubles as a program or a plug-in for say my browser (firefox) that I can just pop in a txt real quick and send it from my computer. Or something along those lines. Maybe something that can sit there in my toolbar on my browser and I can send and receive text's...
Just asking. I'm sure there is something out there, to what degree I don't know ... that's why I am coming by to ask. Thanks in advance.

Remote Notifier for Android - Android app on AppBrain is an option not listed in that thread, I think it'll let you respond directly on the computer but I'm not certain.
