App Folders?

Hello everyone,

I have been doing a lot of reading the last few days/nights.. I have gotten pretty used to my new Fascinate but I am trying to figure out if making new folders for all my apps is actually possible.. I have found that there is a folder organizer "free app" but what I would like to do is this..

I have 6 pages of apps after my home screen, is there a way to actually make and name new folders so that I can drop all my game apps into a folder, all my Utility Apps, Tool Apps all into folders and clean up the 6 pages and maybe break it down in half to like 3 to save space??

If so please let me know I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.. I figured out I can make a folder on the home screen but that appears not to do much of anything being as I cannot scroll over to the other 6 pages and get those apps into the folder on the home scrreen..

Thanks for your help!

Ok got it downloaded, figured out how to make new folders etc but how do I now remove all the app icons from those 6 pages or are those there to stay?

Are you talking about the home screen, or are you talking about the application screen? (you click applications and everything is there in a list or in thumbnail icons)

if the later they are there for good..

i do believe launcher pro has an option to hide apps in that menu though.

hope that helps!

agreed. Actually if you're talking about your app drawer then they're there to stay, if you're talking about the other six screens then you can just press on an app, leave it pressed and drag it to the trash can. If that helps.

Yeah, I like that in Launcher Pro...I can hide all those damned bloatware apps. As for the home screens, just create a folder and drop your apps in there. LOVE Android for it's customizability! :)

Yes I am talking about those other 6 pages not the home screen, well I must not be doing something right because if I hold the app and drag it to the trash can and then go back to the page it was on its still there..

What can I be doing wrong?

This is actually pretty simple. Just long press on the background screen and hit folders, then new folder and you can name it whatever you want, then just drag apps onto the folder.

If you long-press and drag it to the trash and its still there, i think you have mistaken the app drawer for the home screens, and those are there to stay.

Sorry guys the newb finally figured it out, I didnt have Launcher Pro working I guess.. Played around with it a little tonight and figured it out. Launcher Pro is activated, I can now change things around and add and make new folders.. :icon_ banana:

You don't really need launcher pro to organize apps into folders, the phone already does it. Here's a pic of the resulting homescreen on my phone:

Can you explain how the heck you didd that??
I guess I'm just Fascinate dumb..

What I cant figure out is how to make those new folders on the other pages, not the home screen page but the other app pages.. Is there an app or a setting I need to change on the phone itself? Also how did you go about Editing those folder names once you got them on the page?

Ok quick question I deleted or moved my Messaging App Icon off the home sceen how do I get it back to the bottom row icons?? I have Phone, Contacts "BLANK SPOT" and Apps..

HELP!!

If you long press on any of the home/dashboard screens, you'll get the option "new folder".

Tap it, then long press on the word "Folder" to rename it.

Then it's as simple as long-pressing app icons on your dashboard and dragging them into the appropriately named new folders.

I'm a bit OC about being organized, my phone is no exception, lol.

I'm down to one dashboard screen using app folders - no more scrolling to other partitions. This will also help conserve battery life - the phone no longer has to display dozens of app icons, or scroll. Also nice, is that one tap takes you to your home screen.

I also use the app "black wallpaper" which nullifies background data and graphics consuming battery life in the background.
