App Backup and Restore after Factory Reset

I need to do a factory reset on my DroidX and want to preserve the apps and games that I've downloaded.

Please provide recommendations for handling this.

To the best of my knowledge you have to be rooted and have the paid and free copies of Titanium Backup. You then "freeze" your apps and that's suppose to save them. Notice I said suppose to, that's because I've never been successful doing it but others have.

If this hasn't been resolved I would like to second Titanium and also recommend Appbrain if it is app replacement you are seeking.
