6-8 months? It's always been a year or more between iPhones. And on contract, they're pretty much in line with what most high-end Android phones go for (contract price is what matters to the vast majority of people out there).

Yeah they just came out with one last December.

No they didn't.

The 4S came out in October 2011. The 4 came out in June 2010. That's a span of 16 months between releases. There's always been at least a year between new models: June 2007 - iPhone, July 2008 - 3G, June 2009 - 3GS, June 2010 - 4, October 2011 - 4S, 2012 - ?

Just because the device is new to a specific carrier doesn't mean it's a new device (like when Verizon started selling the 4 in February 2011 - 8 months after it was released), and it doesn't mean Apple is releasing a new phone. It's an old phone on a new carrier. Very different.

New iPhones come out every 12 months or more.

Its not even the price for me its that fact that every phone they put out is with an update that makes the one that's already out perform like the newest one does so there's not a big difference in it

Isn't that what everyone on android wants? Everyone wants the newest ics leak so their phone performs as well as possible. Apple is smart with not releasing 70 updates a year. And they are able to keep older models up to date. Where as an android can barely keep the phones released 2 months ago up to date.

Got this text on my RAZR today.
Free Verizon Message: Your phone will soon be upgraded to Android 4.0. At that time we will remove your Verizon Wireless Mobile IM app because it is not supported on Android 4.0. Please download a new instant messaging app to use IM on your phone. Thank you for using Mobile IM!

Don't expect to get it since I don't use their effectively worthless(only works on their data connection) IM app.

OK, then I expect I might get it but haven't, even though I don't use or ever set up the app.

Ahh.. i just added this on the other thread about this. Im thinking this text is going out to people who have ever actually set it up. Regardless of whether they use it now or even have any account info stored in it any more. I suspect as you that if you never signed into it then you may not receive the text.

The stock messaging app is used even if using a 3rd party app. The delivery reports are just turned of in the native messaging app. Both handcent and go sms use it in that manner.

Hmm... well then I have no clue. It doesn't make any sense other than maybe it's all just random and some people haven't received it yet. I saw several posters say they received the text twice, and I did also. Some people are in the MFN, some aren't, some on Maxx, some not, some use the app, some don't. So it may be getting out to everyone, just slowly. And if so, that sounds like good news to me. dancedroid

Well then maybe I'll stick with my first statement.

IM app is unrelated to test messaging app. IM app is like ebuddy, but you're 100% correct about the text/SMS stuff.
