I don't understand... why the heck doesn't Motorola allow you to disable the lock screen, and Google allow you to disable the home screen bar - without having to download some 3rd party app to do it...?
OK, go into settings, apps, then all, scroll down to "Google search" and disable it. This is on the turbo. If you don't want to disable it, just do a long press on it and remove it from your home screen. That is actually what I did, then I went into my other screens and moved the "g" search icon to the main screen. It replaces the bar, but gives you the "g" if you want to search.
You should be able to long press it and drag it to your trash bin. That will remove it from your homescreen and you can always go back into your widgets and add it later if need be.

When you long press it, doesn't three choices pop up, one of which is "remove". Drag it to that, or, when you release it, those three options stay open for you to choose?
After having said all this, I'm not sure where the search "bar" went to, if you wish to reinstall it.

Here's a screenshot of how mine looks when I long press it.
from here you can either move it to a different spot on that screen, move it to another homescreen, or drag it to the trashbin. I figured it was like this on all Android devices as this has always worked on my previous 3 smartphones. (All Samsung though, so that could be the issue in my case)
Good luck, hopefully someone can help you resolve this.
