Any truth to this security issue?

I don't take anything on YouTube as gospel and I thought what better place to ask.
I know there's been threads on virus' and I've yet to open one because I just figured that there wasn't any risk. But you know, with the kind of world we live in, unfortunately it's a possibility if not a probability.

What's you take on this or any other similar threats?

I think thats a spam post......

I've heard u can use tracking software on the phone to catch a cheating spouse, monitor your kids, etc. Seeing how smartphones can use the Internet easily, I believe this can happen if u get software from unfamiliar places or visit unfamiliar places.

Is there spy software for the Droid?

Overblown. There's of course a probability, but Linux and Unix have proven time and time again that Open Source is the key to good system security.

LOL
Sounds like the same for the actual person :D

I have wondered wat the risk of this is on custom roms. Really they can install this, or key loggers, or whatever in their roms. Not saying it is happening but the risk is there.

A friend of mine won't install a custom rom until he figures out how to change the root password so that stuff won't work.

I mean, the writer of the ROM has an easy backdoor into thousands of phones that could be used for spamming, botting, collecting PW and CC info etc.
