For most events of that nature FB just notifies me via gmail. Sure it's not quite ideal, but it works.

I've started developing a native android Facebook app.. That being said its in the VERYearly stages and wont be ready for beta testing for a while yet (read prolly a month or 2 at the earliest)

I think they release the API for facebook so a 3rd party could do a Facebook app.

Facebook chat can be used by downloading the AIM application from the market =) and as far as a better facebook application, you should try using socialite, its not on the market but there are a few threads on it =)

The current Android app is worse than Day 1 when iPhone 2.0 debuted and the Facebook app came out. This is how bad it is.

things that are lame:

- Widget refresh: seriously? We need a manual refresh or at least a configuration on WHEN it refreshes. You can customize how often the app updates, but not how often the widget updates
- Chat: Come on....
- How about uploading photos. Wait can you do this? It seems like I HAVE to take a picture on the spot. My Twitter app lets me select a photo from the gallery.
- So my news feed auto updates because I have the widget, but why cant my messages, notifications, etc update?
- Why does the iPhone version look pretty and the Android one butt ugly?

I admit the current FB app isn't the greatest but it's better than nothing. I can upload photos from my gallery just fine as I've done it quite a few times and even created albums for those photos using my droid and accessing FB using the app. As far as the chat goes, it doesn't work right most of the time on regular FB!!

Just curious does anyone use the AIM app?? The market reviews on it aren't the greatest and it's labeled as battery drainer which isn't something I normally need help with....:icon_eek:

There's tons of multi-protocol chat apps on the market. Get like eBuddy or Meebo or something.

i use meebo im...it works okay, definitely not the best it could be but it lets you chat and i don't really notice it being a battery drain

I tried using Ebuddy, but every time I logged back into FB I had to verify that I knew where the last computer had logged in from. Then when I tried logging back in to Ebuddy it wouldn't accept my password.
