As an FYI I was trying to download via wi-fi several times with no luck then just went w/3G and it downloaded. Probably just a coincidence but keep trying
Used 3G, installed instantly, no issues whatsoever. Maybe try uninstalling your alpha or beta version first? It really shouldn't do anything since they're different apps, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Angry Birds attempts to install to the SD card on Froyo, and some devices (Droid Incredible rooted with Unrevoked at least is one) don't like this. Unmount your SD crd and then do the install, then re-install your SD card.
