I keep seeing this 350k a day activation rate and I just don't see how it is even remotely possible.

I used to think that, too, but when you see the absolute sales numbers of new Android phones it's actually true. I remember seeing Q4 data that Android added something like 30M units globally (this is a global number, not just the US). That works out to just over 300k a day over 92 days in Q4 (may have been a little less than 30M units).

Given how market share has continued to expand, the 350k is probably a good number and would be just for NEW units (but probably including tablets).

All the predictions of how the VZW IPhone was going to really hurt Android growth were just a little off-target. Steamrolled that speed bump, if there even was a speed bump. Even more impressive when you consider there wasn't much activity in the way of new phones for Android in Q1 (the Atrix, but the TBolt had only a few weeks though I think a few new phones were out in Europe/Asia).
