Yeah, my friend says Flash is awesome.
But she said the update killed Swype. At least for now.

I can't wait for the speed boost. Not sure what situation I would need tethering, so if Verizon doesn't allow it, probably won't too big of a deal.

Can I assume rooting would allow tethering anyway?

Ohh, 2.2 killed Swype! That stinks, w/e I'll just wait for an update...

The update did nit kill swype. You build the app for the OS, not the other way around.

My bad lol, I just am soo used to using Swype that I'll be a horrific typer when it comes to the original keyboard once 2.2 rolls out

early results on the N1 is Froyo is simply awesome

Yea it should allow it for usre. No word yet on wheather VZW will allow the teathering. Though I doubt it but i could be worng. I don't use swype anyways. I never liked it :icon_eek:. The spped on my Incredible is awesome anyways. Though I wouldnt mind 2.2 root and a new rom and theme. for my Droid. After all my alarm clock needs to be different from others

Okay, not an issue. She said she just un/reinstalled Swype and it works fine.
She says the speed boost is incredible, and Nexus was already fast.

I can't wait!!!!!!

Hopefully there is a significant speed boost on the Moto Droid as well! I've been feeling some laggy-ness lately and it sucks...

The speed will increase significantly. If you're having an issue with lagging now its not because of 2.1. You probably can fix the lag just by turning your Droid off and on.

Good, I'm also thinking about overclocking to 800mHz, 1gHz still sounds like a risk to me...

This might be old news, but I just found this on the Adobe website:
Adobe Flash Player 10.1 beta for Android (2.2) FroYo now available
The Adobe Flash Player 10.1 beta for Android 2.2 is now available for download on Android Market for the Google Nexus One and other devices that support Android 2.2. Flash Player 10.1 beta for Android enables your device to access the full web - which includes all your favorite videos, games, interactive media and web applications.

lol, not really - most droids can take it, if yours can't you just boot loop a few times, then flash a lower kernel, or just run the current kernel at lower clock

Sorry this is a n00b question, but when 2.2 comes out for the Droid will a root user be able to OTA download it? or does a root user have to do a manual download?

I have very recently found that powering off and on gets completely rid of lag and speeds up the phone.

I would imagine it won't be an issue once 2.2 comes.

Didn't they hand out free Droids with 2.2 on them as well?

Wolf,

Not sure if you were around for the 2.01 and 2.1 updates but most certainly a rooted phone that does not have the 2.1 stock rom will not OTA properly. The rooted N1 folks had to install an older/unrooted rom initially. I think that was cured with the hacked update zip for them, but until the ota is out, no one is gonna know for sure. We could also find ourselves in the situation where if your rom does not have the otacerts file, we may have the background download/fail drain battery situation.

Keep an ear to the ground, and things will unfold. It's gonna be a bit, unless VZW surprises everyone with a very short schedule, likley you will see some of the 2.2 "things" ported into some of the roms. And we are kinda fortunate that the N1 came first, as they are the ones rigt now with market issues. By the time we have it, the market should be caught up with apps recognizing 2.2.
