Android 2.2 - Froyo

I keep seeing all these links coming up in Google: "How to manually install Froyo 2.2 on Nexus One and Moto Droid."

So much irresponsible reporting out there.

I see the ones for the Nexus One but never have seen one including the Moto Droid?? Post a link please...

I just meant that we haven't been waiting long at all for 2.2 as it was just recently announced. The 2.2 AOSP hasn't even been released yet!

Thanks for the clairification....you are correct. The offical announcement was (I guess) on 5-20 or so. So really, there hasn't been a long span of time since then. Just a lot of speculation and wishing.

I think everyone is so anxious about this release because it takes some big steps such as being able to install to SD card, being able to teather, and adobe flash.

I know there are ways around these by rooting, etc, but I am not one that wants to jump through hoops to have my phone to perform the way I want it to. I don't want to have to root, honestly I own the phone, I should have root access right off the bat. Imagine if it was that way with Windows.

I tend to agree with you. Our Droid should perform at it's top capability without having to do something that voids the warranty.

End of rooting discussion. Lets move on...:)

Actually, thinking about it, it is Moto hardware, they can release anything they want for it when they wish... We pay VZ for the phone and contract, but that subsidized the cost they paid moto for the phones.

Well, it would be a terrific thing, luckily we don't have an oem layer on top of Android itself, so there shouldn't be a delay like in one running sense or motoblur ...

ive been wondering if the eris will be getting 2.2 .. i got overly excited about 2.2 until i started forum surfing and read that some tend to think the eris wont get any more updates :( i just bought this phone and hate that i only have 159 mbs of ap space.. anyone have a guess? until the official list that is

I remember the Incredible getting it, and another HTC phone but I'm not sure if it was the Eris. Try a google on that.

I'd be surprised if this weren't already posted, so reprimand me if you must, but I couldn't find it using the Search feature.

Motorola now has a locked post on their support forums that will be used to disseminate official information on the release of 2.2 on the Droid as soon as Moto releases the info.

Hope this helps!

As long as Droid keeps it tight and timely with solid updates, and the apps like LauncherPro, etc, let me play with screens and icons, I'm fine!

c'mon 2.2!

Ugggggh! :rofl3: Hookbill posts yet another anti-rooting comment, this time regarding warranty voiding and then forbids further rooting discussion. We GET it hookbill, you are against rooting. :icon_eek: Rooting is of satan. :icon_evil:

Hes just trying to keep the thread on topic, theres a whole other thread about rooting froyo elsewhere.

Quite true sir, considering hook has no problem with rooting and had done it himself a few times. It's his job to keep us on track.

Anyways, I can't seem to find a complete feature list... And I'm not looking through this thread for it. Link? Lol

And do we have source yet?
