No ad-hoc support means you can't turn your laptop into a wireless router and connect the Fire to it. People do this when there is no wireless, they can plug their computer via the Ethernet and then make their laptop a wifi hot spot, this would be an ad-hoc network. Android can't do this natively without some tweaking so it is not surprising.

hmm...thanks for the explanation. i thought it was the other way around, meaning using the device (i.e. kindle) as the router or internet source (wifi) when you have a computer that doesn't have an internet connection.

Got one on pre-order :)

If it is anywhere close to a NOOKcolor, it will be great. Since I'm already "Prime" , combined with Amazon's cloud-stuff I'm sure it will be a killer.

Can't wait to see these things floating around. Amazon has finally hit the hardware/price sweet spot.

I'm just waiting for some reviews when it comes out. Then I might get one for the wife since she's not a power user. My 4yr old would love it too. Lol.
