Amazon made the big Fire Tv announcement just yesterday today the device has been rooted! The Fire Tv is a set top box by Amazon that sets itself slightly apart from the Apple Tv and Google Chrome by also being a gaming console. They are selling full on game controllers to go along with the Fire TV. They also announced a hand full of well known game development companies that will be developing for the platform. A few lucky individuals had already began to receive their orders this afternoon. Today Justin Case announced via twitter that he would be working on Root for the device. Just a few short hours later he tweeted that he had accomplished root for the device. He later went on to add that it was not anywhere near ready for mainstream release and that he didn't know what the complete impact of rooting the device would be, whether or not the DRM would remain intact. Whatever the bugs are that need to be worked out, it is nice to know that we may be able to eventually fun full on Google Play Store on this device and who knows maybe even a full Kit Kat build!

My Fire TV arrived today, pretty neat. The controller will be here in a few days or so... interesting to see how it works. I had a ton of points on my Amazon card, so I basically picked this up for free.

I really wish I would have hacked my PS3 when I had the chance. I don't want to buy another device, but the browser on my PS3 and also my internet TV are garbage. Chromecast isn't a good option unless I upgrade my A/V receiver
