Alternative to Google Calendar?

Hi all.

Am I the only one who thinks Google Calendar on a pc sucks?
Add to that the glitch in the Android sych with Google Calendar that makes sharing with another calendar completely unusable and I'm looking for an alternative.

I've found some todo/task lists that are very good, even if they are subscription services; toodle do, rtm, etc.

Is there anything like that for a calendar that could be used as a shared calendar.
Wife and I are using Cozy right now but it's pretty limited and pretty lame when compared to a real calendaring app.

Okay.
I'm trying Google Calendar again.
I built a 3rd calendar for use as a family universal calendar since the sharing on the Android OS doesn't work right.

So far my only real niggle is that a calendar event reminder rings one time and that's it.
If I'm napping or otherwise involved and miss that reminder I won't notice it until I look at the phone again which could be quite awhile.

Anybody have a workaround for this?
