Ad hoc not supported by droid 2

I have a droid 2 rooted and my wife has a droid 2 not rooted. I've tried to talk her into it but that's beside the point :) I would like to provide wifi for my wife's d2 through my (rooted) d2 by running the tethering app. My laptop will connect fine but her d2 will not because it does not support ad hoc (IBSS) mode. Any ideas how I can achieve these capabilities? I downloaded my tethering app through android-wifi-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code
-works great, just not able to connect to internet on my wife's d2 through my d2's tethering...

I can not answer your question, but it begs me to ask why you want your wife's D2 to tether from your D2? Does she not have unlimited data usage and you do?

Well, my wife is at home a lot using the wifi and we've tested it (data usage) and every month she never gets close when she's out. Probably got to root hers too, to gain permissions.
