About to root, do I need a SU app?

When I used Towel root to get my phone rooted last time, I don't remember seeing a super user app? Is this something I need? If so, what do you guys recommend?

Yes, you need SU. Download and install it after root.

No specific one, it's your preference. I however prefer super super user (ssu)

Su apps log which apps have root permission and allow you to modify or change permissions.
