I've decided to try Apex. i'm on the non-leak rubix now. I've come from a D1 and don't know how to .sbf, what is the route i should take to get to apex? also does apex have the fancy transitions?

From the non-leak version, I recommend doing the sbf back to 2.3.15, then getting the ota update, then install apex.

SBF:
Instructions and sbf file here: Droid X 2.2 Full SBF leaked - Download now

OTA Update:
System->About Phone-> System updates
follow prompts to download and install

Install Apex:
Root your phone using z4root or other rooting method
Download Zip
Place zip file on sdcard
Install Droid X Bootstrapper
-Open Droid X bootstrapper
-Click Bootstrap Recovery
--Wait for success message
-Click Reboot Recovery
Install apex zip

I think that should cover it.

what if my device isn't showing in RSD? Where can i find the drivers for the X?

I've always been able to get rsd to recognize the phone by first booting the phone into the bootloader:

With the phone completely off, not just asleep.
hold down the camera button, down volume button, and then press the power button

You'll get an ugly looking screen that says some mess about bootloader version and stuff. It's all black with white text.

After your phone is in that state, connect to your computer via usb, then open rsd and you should see it listed.

Well i forgot i had a nandroid backup of when i first rooted the phone so i loaded it and i forced the vzw OTA to .340. once its done i need to back it up, root it, bootstrap it and back up again. and then DELETE all my 2.2 backups? (bc if i accidentally load them i'll be screwed correct?) then i can flash apex?

I agree with everything you've stated above. I would have suggested the nandroid route, but your original post sounded like that wasn't an option.

Good luck. :icon_ banana:

to answer your other question, Apex does use transition animations, and I've liked the ones it uses better than ones on other roms (i particularly like the fly-in animation)

I really like the transitions as well, but I find that it makes the phone feel a bit slower. It's just mental, but if I turn them off using spare parts, I feel like that instant pop up of anything I do means faster phone.

I keep toggling them on and off and can't decide if I want to stick with the bad-ass transition and feel a millisecond slower, or just keep them off and feel like the phone is faster than I am.

thanks plower. everything worked fine. One question though, my GMail is constantly force closing and i can't use it, any suggestions?

Yeah i found that after i posted the question to you. Thanks for your help though. Oh and do you know what the script is to REMOVE madden? i see it in the OP 1.3.0 posts but dont see the script.

No clue. If I were to try and get rid of madden, I'd use titanium backup and freeze it.

My son likes to play it, so I haven't touched it though.
