I've been reading about the 60$ a month unlimited plan from verizon.....but you have to add a year to your contract so does this mean I get to upgrade?

No, not if you're currently under contract.

i think it was the $69.99/mo plan, unlimited data, text, and 450 minutes. It's a good deal, but only qualifies to new customers or renewing customers

The new plan may be the one that was posted in the Verizon promotion thread the other day... it's $59 for 450 minutes and unlimited text with calling to ANY mobile number. DOES NOT include the unlimited data, however. So... the $69 promo is better.

Nope. Neither here nor there -- the two are entirely unrelated. You're getting the plan in exchange for the commitment. A subsidy, while it also comes with a contract, is an entirely different matter.
