5V 3A Portable Charger for Nexus 6P

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a portable charger for my Nexus 6P with a 5V 3A output for the fast charging capability. I have not had any luck finding one via google searching. Almost everything that comes up as "3A" is a dual port where one outputs 2A and the other 1A (so 3A total) which is super misleading IMO. Anyone know of a good charger that has the 5V 3A output from a single port? I'm not going to be super picky about mAh capacity, but if possible I would prefer about 10,000 mAh.

This information is not correct with respect to the Nexus 6P or 5X (thank you @Mustang02 for setting me straight). it is however accurate with respect to other fast charging systems which use the USB type A (Micro USB), connector, even if they don't adhere to the QC 2.0 protocol, such as the Samsung Galaxy S7).

Then select the "Shopping" tab.

Quick Charge 2.0 is by its very nature a 15 watt (3A) charging system. Any charger that adheres to the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 protocol will charge with up to 3 Amps of current. Amps times Volts =Watts. So, 5 Volts at 3 Amps provides 15 Watts of power.

6p and 5x don't adhere to QC standards. They have their own.

I don't have a rapid charging power brick yet. One is supposed to be here today. Will report back.

@Mustang02...You're correct (thank you for pointing this out). I was taking into consideration that some phones use their own fast charging protocols and that some of those phones don't have to adhere to the Quick Charge 2.0 standards in order to take advantage of the 5V 3A power output of the QC 2.0 chargers.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has its own Fast Charge protocol, however my S7 actually "sees" my Motorola Turbo Charger (QC 2.0 protocol) as a "Fast Charger" for its own purpose and proceeds to fast charge.

The QC 2.0 protocol provides three voltages and amperage options that are used in stages to produce the rapid charging function. The three voltages are 5V, 9V, and 12V, and up to 15 watts.

However you did point out something I overlooked...the fact this OP was asking for a 3A charger specific to the 6P. The problem for me was that I was reading the question without looking at the device. This changes completely what would be a correct answer (mine was not), and so after your post I looked up the 6P protocol. It's apparently unique due to the use of the USB type C connection and the requirement of "handshaking" (two-way talking) between the charger and phone in order to negotiate the 5V 3A charging rate. It's using additional conductors in the USB C cable that are not in the earlier USB type A standard cable (Micro USB), so even though the QC 2.0 chargers are capable of producing 5V at 3A, they will not negotiate that charging rate with either the 6P or 5X.

Only chargers that support USB C will be able to communicate with the 6P/5X I'll order to negotiate the fast charging rate. I am not aware of any portable chargers that support USB C. Perhaps they are out there and I'll research to see if I can find one or more.

OK, found 3. They support both USB C and support 5V 3A.

It never registered "rapid charging" but it took me from 50% to 100% in about an hour and a half.

That's some fast charging for sure. The specs show a max charging rate of 4.8A, but that is a combined maximum across all ports. I wonder what the maximum current is to any single port. It did not specify.
