4g

Stuck?

4g is just more selling lingo. It'd be nice if I could trust what 3g and 1x shows on my home screen. Nobody ever truly knows what it is really pulling.

None of the current crop of Verizon phones are 4G capable. This will require new phones and Verizon hasn't announced any of the new 4G models yet.

I dunno if I'm confusing anything, just wondering what the limitation was with the Droid X being able to access 4G and if it could possibly be overcome with a firmware upgrade.

4G is going to use a different hardware chipset than the one that any of the current device line-up uses to access 3G so the DX being able to access LTE is not a reality

4G will be using sim cards, similar to AT&T and Sprint use right now. There is no sim slot on the X, so it will not be capable of using the new LTE ("4G") service. No matter how many Verizon reps tell you otherwise, the DX is not compatible with 4G.
