3g dropping repeatedly.

I have a rooted droid 2. I do wifi tethering with a laptop and my buddies Ipod while we sit at work. Every night at some point the 3g will drop for a second then come back. It's does this an hour sometimes or more... Just a constant drop 3g and come right back and it's gone again just as quick as it came back. It's enough that by the time I go to click a new page it cant load because I've lost 3g. My bars dont appear to fluctuate. Anyone else having this problem and any idea how to fix it?

I have a problem were ill be connected to 3g but then I will lose connection but the 3g icon is still there. To fix it I just turn on wifi, then turn it off. Its the strangest thing ever but it works.
