3g comes and go

Can someone please help me figure out why my 3g comes and go when it want to on wife droid incredible.

I have the same problem. I can't tell you why, but an easy fix is to hold down the power button, put the phone in airplane mode, then turn off airplane mode. That has seemed to work for me.
