2.5 Call screen

I notice that when the dialing pad is displayed right when I'm going to make a call..If I tap anywhere else other than the actual numbers, another screen pops up with a different keypad. Is this normal? Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Happens with mine too. But I'm OK with it, nothing major imo.
