When does the 2.2 Froyo update come out for the Motorola D1?

And also, if I was to upgrade to 2.2 via update: Would I still be able to root or not?

There have been no announcements on when 2.2 will be out. It started rolling out to some people, but not to everyone and is currently on delay. As for rooting after it does finish going out to everyone, I can't imagine it wouldn't be possible. For one thing, there's a file floating around of the OTA already rooted.
