SanDisk Introduces the first 128 GB microSD memory card at Mobile World Congress. Quite impressive if it wasn't for the fact that we have few phones left that still uses the microSD card. For those with Samsung devices, especially those getting the S5, this may be worth looking at.
And a number of news and music services (believe a few video services, as well) now allow offline download/cache, which if obviously a big deal for limited plans. The question is whether more devices will give us the storage to do that with.
So you can consume a lot of content but still sip data if you have access to wifi, but 16/32 gigs of internal storage with no SD doesn't really cut it.
Are people that say they need to have this much space listening to music every second of the day for weeks on end or something? I see no need to store that much music on a portable device...I only have 15 GB of music and I don't even go through all of that...I mean, that's over 2000 songs there...

Also, 128 gigs...wow...thats a lot. I have a 64gig in my Note 3 and I have issues filling it up. I have several movies on there and it barely makes a dent. My entire music collection is maybe 12 gigs which is why I pay for Google Music.
Actually, it's not a firmware issue. it is an OS issue. I have an OG Droid Razr MAXX, that firmware wise, shouldn't recognize anything above 32gb. However, with Andriod 4.2.2 and up, it should be able to address pretty much anything.
The second I see this in the Wild, I'm getting one.

It's not about listening to every song all day, but having a library to hear anything I'm in the mood for. And if it's in the cloud, I may not have a connection on the airplane or train.
Plus, why do I want to have to go thru and cull my library and constantly have to manage what's on my phone because they are too cheap to give me the storage I need?
And that's just music. Others have a bunch of video content, as well, and that really eats up the space.
