OK, i admit it i'm a noob. just wondering if there is a way to update past android version 2.3.5 on my milestone x (non Verizon Droid x)?

Not officially. If you are rooted then it's more than likely an unofficial build of ICS is available.

There are tons of ICS custom ROMs for the DX if you root:

Droid X Roms

These should work for the Milestone X since it's basically the same thing but I'd triple check just to be safe.

im currently running a stock kernel which is 2.6.32.9-geadffa3 do i need to sbf before i can flash a custom rom?

i am truly a noob, not sure how to tell if i am or not. i havent touched the kernel as far as i know. the only thing i have done is rooted using superoneclick w/ zerg exploit

It would be under system version, not kernel version. If you SBF you will have to re root afterward.

ok, then yes i am running .604 MB, so i should be able to flash properly?
