Another standalone capable app from a developer I'm starting to use more and more of his apps for not only their quality and usefulness to me but how quickly and professionally he is about queries and updates.
You can use the location on your phone, if tethered, or the standalone GPS of your S1 or S2 3G .
The Gear lineup has a weather app built in that uses the phone version of the Samsung weather app as a companion but it pretty much just tells the current temp and conditions and nothing more. Plus it's pretty darn hard to see unless you've got a solid black wallpaper. This app takes things to another level by being independent from the phone, much more detail in the current conditions as well as a 7 day forecast ability and national weather news. It can be refreshed every time you open the app , unlike the stock one that waits for a sync from the main app on the Samsung phone. If you are using a Gear S2 without a Samsung phone the stock weather app doesn't work anyway.
All reports come from the NWS and not some meteorologist site I've never heard of.

For me it's another reason not to bother with my phone.
