Samsung Fascinate WILL NOT SYNCE WITH FACEBOOK UGH HELP!

I got the samsung fascinate about a week ago and I have tried everyday to sync facebook to my contacts but it will not do it. Ive tried removing the acconut and redoing it still nothing. ive tried messing with the sync time intervals NOTHING. Someone please help. Do i have a defective fascinate? All i get is sync error....Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly....what do i need to do?

Menu/Settings/Accounts & Sync/ click auto sync and be sure you have FB enabled below.

If you are using 3G, have you tried wifi? - i.e. use the other method(s) to connect.
Does the Accounts & Sync page show the correct FB account?
