Receiving multiple copies of one text (D1)

I dunno if its people who text me are accidentally sending duplicates, but I seem to get a lot of texts that are identical multiple times sometimes and its very annoying. does this happen to anyone else? what can i do about it?

i get this too and i dont believe its ROM related...

I'd like to know what causes it as well and if there were any solutions found

I got this a lot even on my stock Droid. Matter of fact, I had the issue on my BlackBerry as well.
What cell carrier are the messages coming from? Are they Verizon to Verizon, AT&T to Verizon, what?
I can tell you that the owners of the phones that were sending the duplicates had been told by others that their phone seemed to be sending duplicates, so I don't think its a phone issue (rooted or not), I believe its a cell carrier issue. That's my opinion, I'm far from an expert, so hopefully one will chime in.
