True but that cost M money in labor and processing they otherwise would not have to expend should they choose to lock.

Imho I think it would be cheaper for moto to keep it unlocked bc look at how many people return phones now and call it a warranty replacement. An unlocked bootloader would mean a lot of those issues could be solved at home and in turn save a lot of returns.

Dave12308 and droidmakespwn we are all saying the same thing. Look at the threads on here about water damage and how can i get a new phone? Look at all the threads that say "I installed rom x and now I am stuck on the M logo." People who can not recover from this want new phones.

If we get unlocked phones then perhaps this will not happen so often because ROM's will be easier for developers to create. But M says if we do it our warrenties R void. We all win.
