No built-in notes widget?

Hi,

I'm new with this phone. Coming from a Sony with Android 2.1, I am missing a simple built-in notes widget. I am right that it is missing, or is it hidden somewhere that I cannot see it?

I know I can download plenty of free notes apps from the market. Just wondering if there is something built-in or preinstalled that I am missing.

Otherwise, what would you recommend as a very simple and basic widget?
