Newbie with a droid x2 seeking professional help.

I'm rather new to all this new age stuff,so I figured I better join a site where I could get help. My plans are to get the best out of my phone that I can. I don't understand a lot of the acronyms or terminology that is being used here. I think I would like to root my phone then maybe add that v6 supercharger. I need to know what all I need to do first for rooting my phone. I also my need help formatting my sd card. Like I side I'm a newbie looking for help to get the most out of my phone.
