Need help with travel plans to Ireland

I currently have a Droid 2. I will have wifi access where I am staying, but I've never tried any method of voice communication other than the normal phone (skype, google voice). I am eligible for an upgrade before the trip (3-13 August) but I don't want to base a 2-year-long choice of phone on one trip.

It is possible this is posted in the wrong place. I need help!

any phone with front facing camera would be ideal . the d2 would work for them as well just set up a GV account just makes video chat a little harder .
