my droid a bit buggy?

I've had a few issues with my Droid and I'm not sure if they are software related that would be remedied with an update or not. Can the smartphone pros chime in here?

My screen blanked out on a call and could not come back until I removed the battery.

I have input issues (non-responsive keyboard) when the phone is vertical, either the keyboard won't pop up when selecting the text field or I type letters, they show as selected with the little pop up confirm but they don't type out.

The email is non-responsive a lot and a box pops up asking if I want to close it.

I've had the phone less than a week. I like it but I need to know if this sounds like software issues that would get fixed. Thank you.

I did have ATK installed but uninstalled which fixed some notification issues. Thank you!
