Both are malware, which the anti-viruses don't scan for. Both are 'apps' which the anti virus will leave alone.

Again, these viruses can't take hold unless you download them.

As we've always said, be cautious with your downloads and look at the permissions granted. (ie. why does a wallpaper app need access to background data? it doesn't, red flag right there)

The first one mentioned, it stated it 'lures' people into downloading it by hiding within an app. There again, think before you download... why would an app require an additional download within itself? Updates are pushed through the Market and add ons for apps are handled the same way. Again, just be cautious and look at what's being asked to be downloaded.

An anti-virus is just going to bog down your phone with no real benefit.

Again this is talking about a virus targeting chinese users who download apps outside of the regular market. I'm not too concerned. Common sense, don't download apps from sms or advertisements.
