When I put my phone in the multimedia dock, it begins to charge but does not enter the dock mode (horizontal, etc.). Help!!!

    Thanks,

Try settings - orientation. Perhaps you have this feature shut off (not check marked)?

try to physical put it in dock mode from the notifications tab and see if that works and or pull the battery out and try again.

I assume u mean that pull down window shade looking thing on the home screen. The only thing listed there is my quick settings app. Battery pull doesn't work either. Basically phone is acting like its plugged into a regular wall charger.

No pic. Only thing that changes is battery icon.

I had this issue in the past myself. It seemed to go away after installing 2.0.1 when it became available. Sometimes it says "multimedia station" but doesn't switch until I hit the "Home" button and it goes there.

hmm, if you don't have the icon then that is weird. mine doesn't always go into the mode automatically, but the icon in the notification bar always shows up. i just click on it or click home and it goes into the mode.

No icon. Basically it looks like my phone looks when I plug it into a regular wall charger. Nothing changes except for the battery icon.

Phone works fine in car dock so is it safe to assume the multimedia deck is defective or not necessarily? The reason I ask is because I thought the mm deck is basically just a stand with a well placed magnet or is there more to it?

hmm, so if the car dock works, the magnet in the phone should be ok, maybe the magnet in the stand went bad....not sure how...

take a small, round fridge magnet and see if you can get it to work that way.

Place in dock, then wait one minute, then press your home button and report.

We've been manufacturing the MIKRADLES mentioned here on the forum's and sold on eBay: MOTOROLA DROID MULTIMEDIA DOCK MIKRADLE (MAHOGANY) NEW! - eBay (item 140367436991 end time Jan-12-10 14:08:30 PST)

When looking for sources and types of magnets, we discovered they are not all created equal. Our study found that many magnets on the market were weak, and either did not repeatedly enable the multimedia mode, or sometimes invoked the auto mode instead (on both sides of the magnet - polarity difference should show one or the other). We would like to have used a lesser expensive magnet, but had to go with better quality at a higher expense to guarantee this would always work. I don't think Motorola uses a cheap magnet either, so that's probably not your issue, but as someone stated - trying it with a ref magnet might show you had a bad one in your dock. Though we try every magnet before shipping, it is possible Motorola does not and a bad one could have slipped through.

Please do post here with your results and findings. We'd all like to know how this issue resolves! :)

I just got the dock and it enters dock mode ok but the screen still shuts off after the normal idle time. I would have thought the screen would stay on while it's docked. Any of you guys having this problem?

screen only stays on if you have the cable plugged into the wall charger.

Interesting, I had it plugged into a USB port and it was shutting off. I plugged it into a wall socket and now it's staying on. Thanks!! I wonder what the difference is? It's charging either way.

I've know mine stays on when plugged into AC. Haven't tried the USB/computer yet - but just now plugged it in to my computer and placed it on MIKRADLE. I'll get back to you in @10 minutes to let you know if mine reacts the same as yours. I would have thought the same as you since it is charging.

I have noticed in the past that if I mount my SD card - the phone DOES sleep after the normal period of time, and dismounts from my computer "illegally". At that point, all of my USB devices (including keyboard) freeze up since the computer (Apple Mac G5 Tower) interprets this as an "improper dismount". I then need to restart the computer to restore USB capabilities.

But you are referring to USB connection without mounting (I am assuming). Which as I said, I've just done as an experiment. Also wondering the difference between AC and USB charging. I would have thought both would keep the Droid awake. Hmmm.

    Back in ten minutes! ;)

500mAh/550mAh vs. 1100mAh being provided from the wall. find a way to get 1000+ mAh from your PC and it will stay on.
