Moving music from internal storage to external sd card?

I recently downloaded some music but my new phone doesn't save the files to the sd card automatically. When I tried moving them manually I was given a message saying it could not be done "due to system restrictions". What is preventing me from accomplishing my goal and what can I do about it?

You didn't say where the music came from but my guess is that it was DRM protected and most DRM protected music can't be moved from the default location on internal storage.

I used the app 'musicmaniac'. I used this app on my previous phone and did not have this problem as the music went straight to the external storage.

It appears that the app is supposed to do that by default from what I see. Is the SD card working otherwise?

Yes, all of the files on it, music and otherwise, work fine.
