Jeffrey, you might want to add this to the OP. TowelRoot also works to Root the G3, here is GeoHot's webpage with the apk link.

Jeff, when you pick your G3 up. Try TowelRoot I did it earlier it was fine. Just download SuperUser from the market before running TowelRoot. The other Root method when I first tried it, I had to side load it and that was not fun. Had some driver issues....

Finally found something to flash via TWRP. Changed that ugly LG font to Roboto Condensed.

The script has been updated to an automatic root on Windows now.
