How to disable voicemail?

Can anyone explain to me how to disable the voicemail for Verizon step by step? or do I have to call Verizon to do it?

last time i killed my voicemail i just called them....they were really nice about it.

If you do not want to use you voice mail is log in to you voice mail system by calling the access number and change the ring count to 8 then turn on you answering machine and setup the ring count lower then what you have have set on the Verizon mail.

The only way to activate and deactivate would be to call customer care and have it turned off because it’s a network feature and there is no way to do it through your phone.
