Yeah viper1549 you were right, i took some pictures everytime it dropped to a different percent of the battery, and it worked fine until 30% anythin below that it was just flashing re quick and not capturing the picture the way it is suppose to, i guess they set it that way to maybe save the battery when taking pictures, who knows, but thx for the insight, very helpful.

Thanks for the info guys! I kept meaning to try this out, but continually forgot to take some pics as my battery died. Makes sense they'd want to conserve battery...I wonder if you'd get better pics with a lower battery by tweaking settings...?

When the battery starts to lose charge its voltage drops.

The LED flash puts so much current drain on the batt that it also drops the voltage.

I think the flash not working with a low battery is a safety feature to prevent the phone from shutting down from insufficient voltage. Would you ratherhave your phone shut off every time you take a flash pic with a low battery? Heh

Ok, I just got a droid 2 as a replacement for original, and the first thing I noticed was the dim flash. Whereas the original was bright white and blinding, this one is dimmer, almost a yellowish or off white color. Perhaps it takes better pics, I don't know...

As a sidenote, I wouldn't say this phone sucks, but it is in now way better than the original...
