File attachment

Has anyone had problems attaching documents to emails? I'm having to use the default email app in order to send emails to my groups, however I am having difficulty attaching documents. I know the documents are saved under the documents folder however when I click on "attach" and attemp to locate the files it says the folder is empty.

Please help!
