Echoing just for 1 number?

I've been experiencing echoes and poor sound quality since I got my phone right after Thanksgiving. I finally gave up and exchanged it for a new one. Call quality is much better...

EXCEPT for calling my dad. It's a wee bit better, but I still get an echo and he says that I sound like I'm talking through a tin can. It wasn't like this when I had my EnV Touch, just now on my Droid. He's also a VZW customer with an LG Voyager.

Has anyone had this experience?

dial *228 and reconnect to towers. that might help
