Droid shuts off. Power adapter plugged in then battery pull.

I just purchased two extra batteries. The problem is I wish you could change the battery without the Droid shutting off. I thought by haveing the power adapter plugged in it would supply power during a battery change.

This is not the case. I wonder if it is a hardware or software thing.

This would be a nice feature. Not having to reboot the device everytime I would like to change the battery.

Is there an app out there?
