Droid screen lock prevents syncing???

I set up the screen lock on the phone. Now, when I get in my truck and the screen is locked, I have to unlock it to get it to sync with my Chevy. Do I need to completely disable to screen lock for it to automatically do this again? It automatically synced before I put the lock on the screen. Thanks for any help.
