Droid resets after receiving text message

I've had my droid for about two days now, and I love it. However, as of earlier today, it has been reseting whenever I get a text message from anyone. I've done everything I could think of, from going in and deleting apps I don't think I have any need/want for, to taking out the battery and waiting a few minutes and putting it back in. Another question I have is before I got my droid, I had a 2 gig SD card, and I was wondering if there was any way to move the items from that, to the phone, then move the items to the card the droid came with?

I have never had the 'reset on text' happen- Try removing the battery and putting it back in that will completely reboot the phone, No worries you will not lose anything.

Easiest way to move items from the 2gig card to the droid is pop the 2 gig card into your computer, Plug the droid into the computer and mount the droids sd card ( Pull down the notification window at the top of the screen and choose the 'Select to copy files to/from your computer' ) then copy over what you want.

Thanks for the help with the sd card! :]

However, I have tried to remove the battery, wait, then put it back in. It has yet to work, and instead of receiving a text message, reseting, then staying on, my phone seems to have made a bad habit of getting the text, reseting, showing the lock screen, amd then reseting again. I'm starting to get frustrated since I just got it only two days ago, and am starting to think that I might have to visit a local verizon store to see if they can figure it out.

Where you have only had it a couple of days a factory reset should not be too painful, I would bet that the Verizon store will do that first. I have not done one before, but a search of the forums brings -

To perform a hard reset on your Motorola Droid, perform the following steps.

  1. Turn off the Droid. If you are unable to turn off the Droid, remove the battery for 10 seconds, then replace it.
  2. Open the physical keyboard and press the X key while pressing and holding the Power Button. The device will turn on, keep holding these two buttons until a yellow triangle appears.
  3. Press the Volume Up and then the Camera button at the same time to get a menu to come up. You may have to press them more then once.
  4. You have now entered Recovery Mode.
  5. Use the Directional Pad on the Physical Keyboard to select the Format option.
This should perform a factory reset of your device. You will of course lose all data. Please exercise caution before doing this without a backup.

* Note: Contacts, etc. should be backed up to the cloud, so you should be safe with your address book.
