Does anyone know of a docking station for the motorola droid that has speakers to amplify music playback from the droid? Sort of like the Bose speaker system for the ipod.

This is definitely needed. There are so many different ipod docking stations that include massive speakers. Just take a look at iHome, someone needs to develop this!

How would you dock without a dock connector? It would somehow have to plug into USB and the headphone jack as well. There's really not much advantage IMO over any existing solution with line in.

agreed,
i dont think the USB supports audio out anyway.

you can pick up most speaker docks for ipods and they almost always have a headphone jack right there that you can plug into. sure you can't charge your device, but it will play your music louder...

in all honesty, the BEST thing you can do for this (this is my current setup) is to get the multimedia dock - $15 on amazon, and a male headphone jack to red/white cables ( Amazon.com: Belkin Audio Y Cable Splitter 1-Mini Plug/2-RCA Plugs (6ft): Electronics), and plug them into your stereo system or even TV if you must. drop the phone into the dock, and plug in the headphone jack. hit play and enjoy.

Again, there needs to be a docking connector. iPhones have them. Droids currently don't.

What happened to the Mikradle guy?? just need to attatch speakers to a Mikradle.

You don't need a "docking connector" Just put in some good speakers with a headphone jack... would keep costs down too.
