Disable touchscreen input for broken screen

Is there a way to completely disable the touchscreen interface?

I have a Motorola Droid that is dieing. The touchscreen keeps tweaking out and registering touchscreen actions even though I'm not touching the screen. This is making my phone borderline useless because as soon as I unlock the screen it starts opening apps, changing screens, etc.

I want to just disable the touchscreen completely for now so I can use my phone with the hardware keypad.

Is there any setting to disable the touchscreen, or perhaps an app that I can download?
So far I'm not finding anything in my searches.
